![]()
On 28 April 2010, our new media partner Nursing Standard will be launching high profile coverage of the Mary Seacole statue appeal starting with an interview with sculptor Martin Jennings who became a fan after hearing about the statue competition and reading her autobiography Wonderful Adventures of Mrs Seacole in Many Lands. Mr Jennings explains: "I plan a bronze figure of Mary about three metres high, striding forwards in the determined way in which she moved through life... she stands as an heroic figure in her own right, as well as symbolising the contribution made by all nations to British identity".
