The Artist Selection Panel reaches a decision

Lord Soley, Chairman of the Mary Seacole Memorial Statue Appeal said:

"The Artist Selection Panel found two of the proposed designs very compelling. There will now be another opportunity for Martin Jennings and Bill Woodrow to meet with the Selection Panel who will make a final choice in June 2009. We now have two artists, of international repute, determined to create a lasting memorial to represent this remarkable woman and to add substantially to the artistic attraction of the South Bank. This will be a world class memorial for a world class city and a world class nursing hero in a conflict zone."
